Supervision and Consultation

Clinical Supervision + Consultation

With Jennifer French, MA, LMFT

Growth as a therapist is deeply personal. This work asks you to sit with others in their most vulnerable moments while also learning how to trust your clinical voice, manage uncertainty, stay grounded, and practice with integrity.

At Uncomfortably Comfy Couch, I offer virtual clinical supervision and consultation for developing therapists who are working toward licensure and wanting a space that is supportive, reflective, and clinically practical. As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate, I provide supervision under the AAMFT supervision designation process, with a focus on systemic thinking, ethical decision-making, case conceptualization, documentation, therapist-of-self work, and real-world clinical skill building.

Supervision with me is warm, honest, relational, and collaborative. It is not about becoming a “perfect” therapist. It is about learning how to think clinically, respond ethically, stay regulated enough to be present, and build a way of practicing that feels grounded, sustainable, and aligned with who you are as a clinician.

Virtual Individual Supervision and Group Supervision options are available for clinicians seeking support, accountability, and growth as they move toward independent licensure.

  • attachment and nervous system conceptualization

  • couples and family dynamics

  • therapist self-of-the-therapist reflection

  • practice questions related to clinical growth and case clarity

Consultation can be helpful whether you are prelicensed, newly licensed, or simply wanting a reflective space to deepen your work.

My Approach to Supervision

My approach to supervision is warm, reflective, experiential, and grounded in an attachment-based, nervous-system-informed, and systemic lens. In supervision, we are not only looking at interventions, diagnoses, and treatment plans. We are also paying attention to the relationship in the room, the patterns that are unfolding, the client’s nervous system, your nervous system, and the way your own clinical presence shapes the work.

Supervision with me is designed to help you strengthen your ability to think systemically, conceptualize cases with more depth, make ethical and clinically sound decisions, and trust your developing voice as a therapist. We will explore trauma, attachment, transference, countertransference, parallel process, documentation, professional identity, and practical interventions you can bring into real sessions.

I believe supervision should make space for both accountability and care. This is a place where you can bring the hard cases, the stuck points, the uncertainty, the questions you feel nervous to ask, and the parts of clinical work that are often not talked about enough.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is to help you become a more grounded, thoughtful, ethical, and sustainable clinician.
