Hi, I’m Jennifer French MA, LMFT

Owner/Therapist

Welcome to Uncomfortably Comfy

Jennifer French (she/her)

Hi, I’m Jennifer—I'm really glad you’re here.

I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist with over 13 years of psychotherapy experience, and I’ve spent much of that time sitting with people in the messy, in-between places of life: the “I’m not okay but I’m still functioning,” the “do we stay or do we go,” the “I’m exhausted from being the strong one.” I’m drawn to the real stuff—what’s underneath the pattern, what your nervous system has learned to do, and what change looks like when it’s both honest and sustainable.

What shaped me as a therapist wasn’t just time in the room—it was a lifelong pull toward understanding people deeply, studying what actually helps, and staying humble enough to keep learning.

The Path That Brought Me Here

My work is grounded in both lived, real-world experience and ongoing clinical training. Before private practice, I worked in roles that profoundly shaped how I see behavior, survival, and systems:

  • Addictions counselor

  • Behavioral coach

  • Educator

  • Over eight years in law enforcement

Those years gave me a front-row seat to how complex people are—and how trauma, culture, stress, and relationships shape the choices we make. They also taught me how to listen carefully when words are hard to find, how to stay steady in hard moments, and how to see the human behind the behavior.

Training, Certifications, and Clinical Lenses

I’m a therapist who loves learning—and I take continuing education seriously, because your care deserves that level of attention. Some of the trainings and approaches that continue to shape my work include:

  • Synergetic Play Therapy

  • Polyvagal Theory and nervous system regulation

  • Trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Ongoing ADHD- and autism-informed training and consultation

I’m also actively pursuing my AAMFT Approved Supervisor credential and will begin formal training in March. I’m genuinely looking forward to supporting the next wave of therapists from an evidence-based, grounded approach—helping clinicians build confidence, skill, and clarity while staying human in the work.

Why I Work the Way I Do

I’m passionate about research, education, and constant growth—not as a “professional identity,” but because it directly benefits the people I work with. I want you to feel that therapy is not just a place to talk, but a place to understand, to practice, and to build change you can actually live inside of.

Uncomfortably Comfy is named that way on purpose: growth can be uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t be lonely—or shaming. In sessions, you can expect a space that’s warm, honest, collaborative, and real. Messy is welcome. We start with what’s true, and we go from there—together.

My Life Outside of Work:

Outside of my professional commitments, I truly value spending quality time with my family and friends. I am deeply committed to self-care, healing, and personal growth, as I believe these are fundamental to achieving happiness and living authentically. My family and I embrace our neurodivergence, thriving in the unique perspectives it brings to our lives. I am passionate about supporting others in living authentically and embracing their true selves without the need to mask.

Life is a continuous journey, and I am a firm believer in evolving alongside it. As a wife and mother, I have firsthand experience with the joys and challenges of marriage and parenthood, and I approach these universal experiences with empathy and openness. Recognizing that struggles are part of these roles, I see them as opportunities for growth.

I enjoy morning runs along the beach, quiet moments with a good book, yoga, running, and cherish the joy of spending time with loved ones. You can often find me exploring the outdoors or traveling, eager to learn about new cultures and perspectives. I am committed to lifelong learning, always seeking the next opportunity to grow and expand my knowledge. As Jack Hewman once said, “Never stop learning;,for when we stop learning, we stop growing.”
